Food and beverage companies like Unilever, Heineken, and Mondelēz have embraced AI technology to cut costs, market products, and meet consumer demands. However, a study by software developer IFS found that many companies are not seeing benefits from AI adoption due to a lack of strategic approach. According to the survey, over half of manufacturers believe a lack of expertise and strategy is hindering their success with AI.
Kevin Miller, CTO at IFS, noted that while AI can provide benefits to the production process, companies need to have a clear objective and be prepared for transformation. One example cited was a snack food manufacturer using AI to enhance food quality by automating Temperature control in their facilities.
Overall, companies need to approach AI adoption with caution and a clear strategy to see tangible benefits in cost reductions and innovation within their supply chain.
