Planted set to debut innovative fermented whole cut steak, a groundbreaking first in the food technology industry

Swiss food tech company Planted has announced its plans to expand its fermented whole-cut steak product globally after its successful launch in France. The steak, made with ingredients like soy, rapeseed oil, beans, rice, and a blend of microbial cultures, has already been introduced in European foodservice and retail markets.

Planted’s investment in fermentation capabilities earlier this year has led to the creation of 30 new jobs at its manufacturing plant in Switzerland. The company joins a growing list of companies using fermentation to produce alternative protein products, with a focus on high-protein, high-fiber, low-saturated, iron, and vitamin B12-rich offerings.

Co-founder Pascal Bieri highlighted the collaborative efforts with gastronomy professionals in developing the product. The company is set to showcase its steak at the upcoming 60th anniversary of SIAL Paris, a major food show event. Planted aims to further penetrate European markets and capitalize on the growing demand for plant-based alternatives in the food industry.
