Wayne-Sanderson Farms, the third largest poultry producer in the United States, has announced the appointment of Kevin McDaniel as the new CEO, effective April 1, 2025. Current CEO Clint Rivers will be retiring next spring and will remain executive chairman of the board for the 2026 fiscal year. McDaniel, who is currently the chief operating officer, joined the company as senior director of Fresh Operations and has held various leadership roles within the organization.

McDaniel brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as president of poultry breeding company Aviagen and held positions at Pilgrim’s Pride and OK Foods. He is also a board member of the National Chicken Council and U.S. Poultry & Egg Association. In a statement, Rivers expressed confidence in McDaniel’s ability to lead the company into the next chapter and looks forward to supporting him through the transition.

Rivers, who oversaw the merger of Wayne Farms and Sanderson Farms in 2022, will be retiring after a successful tenure with the company. The merger placed Wayne-Sanderson Farms under the ownership of a joint venture by Cargill and Continental Grain. Rivers expressed his gratitude for the journey he has had with the company and the accomplishments achieved during his time as CEO. McDaniel is excited for the future of the organization and aims to continue the company’s vision of being a leading poultry company.
