Mart Frozen Foods, a subsidiary of The Mart Group, recently inaugurated a state-of-the-art food manufacturing facility in Rupert, Idaho. This new $65 million plant spans 100,000 square feet and specializes in producing and packaging frozen, fully baked Idaho potatoes under the brand name OH!Tatoes.
Situated in Southern Idaho’s “Magic Valley,” the facility is located next to The Mart Group’s headquarters, bringing the total workforce in Rupert to more than 230 employees. The new Mart Frozen Foods plant is projected to generate 80 full-time jobs and contribute approximately $11.15 million to the local economy annually.
Known for hosting major food companies like Chobani, Clif Bar, and McCain Foods, the eight-county “Magic Valley” region in Southern Idaho leads the state’s agribusiness sector and accounts for almost half of Idaho’s annual agricultural revenue of nearly $11.3 billion.
Dubbed “All Things Food,” the region in Southern Idaho has a robust agricultural foundation that includes potatoes, row crops, sugar beets, barley, wheat, oats, seed production, pork processing, dairy production, aquaculture, food science, and lamb, mink, and honey production.
Aside from its abundant natural resources, the area offers food companies the necessary infrastructure for processing, packaging, and transporting agricultural goods. In a significant achievement, Southern Idaho became the fourth and smallest region in the nation to receive the prestigious Federal Manufacturing Community Designation in the Food category in 2015.
