Türkiye’s retail sales saw a significant increase in August, with official data revealing the fastest growth in five months.
August witnessed a 13.3% surge in retail sales compared to the previous year, following a 5.8% rise in July, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).
This marks the highest increase since March, when sales had risen by 19.8%.
Sales of food, drinks, and tobacco increased by 11.3%, while non-food products saw a notable 17.0% jump from last year.
Monthly retail sales also showed positive growth, increasing by 2.2% compared to the 0.5% rise seen the previous month, marking the third consecutive monthly rise.
In August, wholesale sales also saw an increase, climbing by 3.1% from a year ago and rising by 3.5% from the previous month.
