Klimon, a dairy-free frozen dessert, broadens its distribution



Plant-based dairy-free ice cream brand Klimon, which launched five flavors at select Walmart locations in June 2022, has expanded its retail presence by partnering with 7-Eleven. The distribution deal will first introduce Klimon’s products in nearly 400 stores in Southern California, with plans for a nationwide roll-out soon after.

Founder and CEO Alex Cotraviwat named the brand “Klimon,” which is “no milk” spelled backward, to emphasize the absence of dairy in their products. The company’s motto, “No Dairy. No Difference,” reflects their aim to provide delicious plant-based options that satisfy all ice cream lovers.

The deal with 7-Eleven includes Klimon’s Dairy Free Ultra Creamy Ice Cream Sandwiches in vanilla and horchata flavors, as well as pints in cherry, chocolate peanut butter, banana, and salted chocolate with walnuts, marshmallows, and a caramel swirl.

The shift towards non-dairy frozen products is driving the demand for plant-based options. The global non-dairy frozen dessert market, valued at $5.4 billion in 2021, is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 8.7% from 2022 to 2030, according to Grand View Research data.

In addition to expanding their retail presence, Klimon recently partnered with competitive eater Takeru Kobayashi, showcasing the growing trend towards plant-based products in the United States. This follows controversy surrounding competitive eater Joey Chestnut’s deal with plant-based meat maker Impossible Foods.
