An activist investor is leading a protest at WK Kellogg Co’s headquarters in Battle Creek, Michigan, urging the company to fulfill its promise to remove certain food dyes from cereals like Froot Loops and Apple Jacks. The ingredients in question, including Red 40, Yellow 6, Blue 1, and preservative BHT, are banned in several countries due to health risks. Despite pledging to remove artificial colors by 2018, Kellogg did not follow through. The company stated that over 85% of its cereal products contain no artificial colors, and it is working on creating new cereals without them. The protest, organized by Jason Karp of HumanCo, included hundreds of people demanding safer versions of Kellogg’s cereals sold in other countries. Karp emphasized the importance of transparency and offering healthier choices for American children.
